Governor Ron DeSantis has been a bold voice for freedom, affordability, and the rights of Florida families. Among his most transformational ideas? The elimination—or significant reduction—of property taxes to create fair and sustainable living in Florida. This shift would not only free residents from the burden of paying the government year after year just to stay in their homes, but also allow those still paying off a mortgage to keep more of their own money—accelerating true ownership and long-term financial security.
We fully support strong communities and well-funded public services—our police, firefighters, first responders, water systems, and courts are essential to a safe and thriving Florida. But there must be a better, more balanced way to fund these needs—one that doesn’t punish full-time residents or make homeownership unattainable for working families.
Meanwhile, many of the wealthiest out-of-state and foreign investors are using Florida properties as real estate assets—driving up market values while often paying the same or even less in taxes than full-time families next door. This disparity is especially unfair to Florida residents who bought or completed a build during peak inflation and are now saddled with disproportionately high tax bills. Hardworking families should not be paying more than absentee investors simply because of the timing of their move.
At RonSupport.com, we believe in Governor DeSantis’ pursuit of smart, sustainable solutions that protect essential services while freeing Florida families from the burden of excessive property taxes. This site was created to share why this issue matters, how it impacts real families like ours, and to gather support through a petition urging lawmakers to enact the elimination—or meaningful reform—of property taxes for fair living and a more prosperous future for all Florida residents.
Ron DeSantis
Why doesn’t my property tax match what I actually paid for my home—like every other purchase in life❓ Where else do we pay tax based on a subjective assessment, not the receipt❓ The Tax Collector wasn't even interested in what it cost–only what they told me it is worth 🤯.
Why am I paying two or three times more than my neighbors—just because I moved during peak inflation❓ Life happens, and we all have goals—whether it’s needing more bedrooms for a growing family or finding a better location or commute. But in Florida, property taxes can punish you for making the right move, leaving families burned by the assessor instead of supported by the system.
If property taxes adjust with inflation and market demand, why hasn’t the homeowner exemption kept up❓
For many residents, the $50,000 exemption has become almost meaningless in the face of soaring property assessments—while local governments collect record-high revenues. That kind of imbalance doesn’t reflect a system built to support the people who actually live here.
Why doesn’t Florida provide more meaningful homestead reductions for full-time residents who live, work, and raise families here❓ Florida families should receive real advantages over investors and foreign funds. The people building a life here—not just a portfolio—deserve stronger protections and relief.
Why is owning a home the only investment where you’re punished with a new, unpredictable tax bill every year—even if nothing has changed❓ Would a one-time 7% tax at purchase—like almost everything else we buy suffice? The government’s budget doesn't depend on the values of our homes, right❓
Florida needs families to thrive—but any parent knows that more kids mean more expenses, and more taxes too. Families with three or more children often need a bit more space, but those same homes are hit with steeper property taxes. Why are we making it harder—not easier—for parents who are raising the next generation of Floridians to thrive❓
👉 Sign the petition and urge Florida lawmakers to pursue real property tax reform—reform that protects homeownership, strengthens families, and keeps Florida affordable for the people who live here.
